Choose print only or a black oak frame.

Photographed in Olympos, Karpathos, this image is structured through movement and procession.

A group of women descends along a narrow path, each carrying textiles and objects on their heads. Their bodies align in sequence, forming a continuous line across the frame.

The movement is collective. No figure stands alone.

The foreground is dominated by volume—stacked fabrics, dense and soft, resting above the head of the leading figure. Behind her, the rhythm continues, repeating across each body.

The landscape opens to the left. Mountains extend into the distance, textured and uneven, contrasting with the ordered movement of the group.

To the right, the path narrows against a stone wall, compressing the space and directing the flow forward.

The composition is built on repetition—form, gesture, and posture recurring from one figure to the next.

There is no direct engagement with the viewer. Each woman is absorbed in the act.

The image operates through continuity—tradition carried physically, transferred through movement.

This photograph has been exhibited internationally, including as part of Another Europe at King’s Cross, representing Greece.

Part of Ethos, a long-term body of work documenting traditions and cultural presence across Greece.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0458/0632/1823/files/olympos_ethos-dowry-transportation-karpathos-dodecanese-greece.jpg?v=1777371735
https://checkout.tatakis.com/products/black-white-photography-wall-dowry-olympos-karpathos-dodecanese-greece
