traditional-costume-kymi-euboea-wide-pier-black-white-wall-art-photography-greece
Woman on Pier, Kymi

Woman on Pier, Kymi is a black and white fine art photography print by George Tatakis. From the Caryatis series. Available formats: 30 x 20 cm, 42 x 30 cm, 60 x 42 cm. Choose print only or a black oak frame. Open and signed options are available.

Photographed in Kymi, Euboea, this black and white image introduces a structured foreground element within an open seascape.

The subject stands on a narrow stone pier that extends into the sea. This linear element creates a leading axis from the bottom of the frame toward the figure, guiding the viewer’s attention directly to the center.

The composition is built on a clear geometric relationship between the vertical presence of the figure and the horizontal layers of sea and distant mountains. The pier acts as a transitional plane between land and water, reinforcing the positioning of the subject within the environment.

The figure maintains a frontal stance, centered and stable, while the surrounding sea introduces movement and texture. This contrast between stillness and motion defines the visual tension of the image.

Light is natural and evenly distributed, allowing the tonal range to separate the textures of water, stone, and fabric. The embroidered costume remains clearly defined against the darker tones of the sea.

Part of the Caryatis series, a long-term body of work exploring traditional Greek costume through directed portraiture.

Printed as an archival pigment print on Hahnemühle fine art paper.

Central figure aligned with leading line

Stone pier as compositional axis

Contrast between static subject and moving sea

Part of the Caryatis series

Available in multiple sizes and formats.

Visit our Euboea island collection to discover a curated selection of artwork that pays homage to this Greek gem.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0458/0632/1823/files/kymi-caryatis-euboea-woman-pier-sea-greece.jpg?v=1777284063
https://checkout.tatakis.com/en-eu/products/traditional-costume-kymi-euboea-wide-pier-black-white-wall-art-photography-greece
