Choose print only or a black oak frame.

Photographed in Olympos, Karpathos, this image is structured through action and repetition.

Two women stand beside a stone oven, engaged in the process of feeding and managing the fire. Their movements are direct and physical, defined by extension and force.

In the foreground, one figure swings wood toward the opening. The motion is captured mid-action, creating a sense of immediacy and rhythm.

Behind her, a second figure holds a long wooden tool, extending it into the oven. The gesture mirrors the first, establishing a visual continuity between the two.

The composition is built on alignment—arms, tools, and direction converge toward the dark opening of the oven, which becomes the focal point of the scene.

The surrounding space is minimal and raw. Stone, ground, and sky form a simple environment that reinforces the physicality of the act.

There is no pause in the image. It exists entirely within movement.

The image operates through rhythm—repeated gestures, shared action, and continuous flow.

This photograph is part of Ethos, a long-term body of work documenting traditions and cultural practices across Greece.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0458/0632/1823/files/olympos-ethos-wood-oven-branch-karpathos-greece.jpg?v=1777362700
https://checkout.tatakis.com/en-eu/products/black-white-photography-wall-women-lighting-wood-oven-olympos-karpathos
